Haut-Katanga, or Upper Katanga in English, is a new province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to be established when the country's new constitution is implemented (originally slated for 18 February 2009) by dividing Katanga Province into four parts. Its capital will be Lubumbashi.

Historical province

From 1963 to 1966, the area was constituted as Katanga Oriental. In 1966, it was merged with Lualaba Province to create Sud-Katanga, and was then merged into the new Shaba region.
