The Nigerian Civil War was a period of time in Nigeria that the people of southern Nigeria declared themselves separated from the country, and called their separate state Biafra. The civil war lasted from 1967 to 1970. It took place because the people of the south felt economic, social and physical oppression from the other ethnicities of the countries.
